Glistening Garnet Tutorial

The other day, one of my best friends' from college had her engagement party, so of course I attended (even if it was for a minuscule time frame due to failure in geographical knowledge thanks to me). I wanted to go for a makeup look a bit out of my comfort zone of my typical winged liner and mascara. When I pawed through my makeup stash this gorgeous L'Oreal Infallible eyeshadow in Glistening Garnet was screaming "pick me, pick me!!!".

I love working with this type of color for my eyes because it really makes green eyes pop. Purples and reds are gorgeous complementary colors for green and hazel eyes and this is sort of a maroon shade which is like the ultimate in-between of the two!

For this look I really wanted it to be summer-y and very glowy. I was in love with the end result and think this look would turn out amazing on a lot of girls!

1. Prime eyes- I used M.A.C. Paint Pot in Soft Ocher all over the lid

2. Transition shade- Take a light brown color (I used Soft Brown by M.A.C. but any is fine) and a fluffy brush and apply this in windshield wiper motions to the crease (and a little above). This acts a transition shade and helps everything blend together once we add the other colors.

3. All over lid color- Take L'Oreal Infallible Glistening Garnet on a flat shadow brush and carefully apply this all over the lid, just under the crease. This does have a bit of fall out that's why I used the word "carefully".

4. Add definition to the crease- I used the Naked 3 Palette for this part. Starting with a pencil brush I grabbed the shade called Factory (which is a pinkish brown shade) and began working this into the crease. Once I had the color I was happy with I then took a fluffy brush and blended that out to remove any harsh lines.
Next, taking the shade Darkside (Deep taupe-mauve color) I worked this color into the outer "V" of the eye and blended out once again.
I also took both of these shades and ran them under the lower lash line also adding in some of the Glistening Garnet.

5. Add some shine- To pull the whole look together and to add some shine I took a single eyeshadow from Milani in the shade Bella Ivory and lightly added it to the center of my eyelid. Also adding a bit of this shade under the brow bone as a highlight.

6. Winged Liner- To create a winged liner effect I used my Maybelline Gel-liner and a small angled brush.

7. Fill in brows- This is one of the most important steps! I used Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade and an angled brush to fill mine in. Watch a tutorial here.

8. Mascara- Add three coats of mascara and you are done! I used my favorite at the moment, L'Oreal Miss Manga.

1. Foundation-I used my all time favorite L'Oreal True Match Lumi.

2. Concealer- To highlight and conceal the under-eye area I used the NYX HD concealer in two shades lighter than my exact match.

3. Bronzer- I did a subtle contour on the hollows of my cheeks using the bronzer from my Urban Decay Naked Flushed Palette in Streak.

4. Blush- My new obsession for summer blush which is the Maybelline Hi-Light Powdered Bronzer in Deep Bronze. It is marketed as a bronzer but once all the colors are swirled together and blended out it gives a gorgeous deep cheek color with an amazing glow.

5. Highlight- Highlight shade from my Urban Decay Naked Flushed Palette in Streak.
