Eyebrow Tutorial + Must Have Eyebrow Products!

One of the most frequent questions I get is "how do you fill in eyebrows the right way, without them looking too penciled in". This definitely can be tricky for most girls because it really can go wrong very quickly. However, filling in the brows is actually one of the most important steps in makeup application. If you do your whole face, and neglect your brows, something can just look...off.  It really helps to frame your face.

I did a video not too long ago on how I fill in my eyebrows using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade. I love using this product because it doesn't budge all day long and when used with a light hand it looks very natural.

Some of my favorite brow products:

Milani Brow Fix Kit: I love this for an everyday look. Powders are super easy to work with when you just want to fill in and make your brows look a little fuller. This kit has all of the tools you would need (angled brush to apply, tweezers and a sponge applicator to apply the highlight shade under the brow).

Maybelline Define-A-Brow: This is a really great product from the drugstore. It creates a very fine line that makes the brows look really natural. When using this make sure to use a light hand on the inner most part of your brows and apply more pressure as you work outwards.

Benefit GimmeBROW: I especially love this product when I am in a hurry. I would highly recommend this one if you are just getting started with filling in your brows and aren't looking for anything too-defined or dramatic. This product contains small fibers in the gel so they help to fill in light patches and the small applicator really allows a precise application!

Anastasia Beverly Hills BrowWiz Pencil: This is basically just a step-up from the Maybelline pencil. It is a little bit more for your money. This pencil just creates a smoother application and an even finer tip. It is also very convenient that it has the spoolie brush at the other end.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade: This is my all-time favorite product when I really want my brows to be defined. You really need a light-hand with this product and definitely be sure to start at the tail end of your brow when you have the most product on the brush.

Tips for filling in brows:

  • When filling in brows be sure to start at the tail end or middle of the brow. If you start at the inner most part of the brow this is where it can begin to look too over-drawn and thick. You want your brows to have a gradient effect so the lightest part should be the inner most hairs and gradually darkening towards the back.

  • When you do start to fill in the inner part of the eyebrow make flicking motions upwards with your brush or pencil. This will create more natural hair like lines. You do not want harsh, boxy lines.

  • Using a highlight under the brow-bone helps define and lift the eyebrows making your eyes look more awake.

What are your favorite brow products to use?

xoxo, Nikole
